The main aim of the drawing course in the school program is to teach children to see, to analyze and to depict the shape of the objects of tridimensional space and as well as life phenomena on the paper or canvas surface. Our goal is to make the drawing process the method of shape comprehension in chime with nature rules of harmony and perfection. During the course students learn the basis of "visual" or "natural" perspective through drawing three-dimensional rectilineal solids and household goods. They master the laws of treatment of light and shade of 3D objects in the confined space with all the texture and architectonics peculiarities (that is correlation of parts and the whole). Students draw stuffed animals, anatomic plaster moulds, make sketches by nature, quick sketches of man figure and half-length portraits. The main teaching principle is the movement from simple to complicated, from principal (that is complex shape) to particular (details).

In the sketches students reveal the inner nature of shape, correlation of the whole and the parts (linearly as a rule). In long-term position they learn the treatment of light and shade. The teachers’ aim is to encourage and direct students’ desire to investigate aesthetic means of art, to discover great cultural and national background represented by Russian and foreign artists. Apart from classroom activity, children have practice in Moscow art museums, in zoos, in Moscow streets, in parks and historical places of the city and Podmoskovye. After the practice report exhibitions are organized within the school. Here children of different age can meet and discuss their works.
