If drawing may be compared to "brain" and "intelligence" of an artist, than painting is lively and emotional perception through soul. Painting is the color phenomenon, which gives the shape its true sound in the orchestra of visual images and effects. To see, to feel and to convey emotions through color in combination with good drawing – that’s the basis of successful painting study.

Painting may be compared with enlivening of relative shape, brining breath to it. It’s the symbol of vivid and eternal life. The Russian word for painting reflects the meaning of "Live writing" – the flow of musical rhythm, pauses of hesitation and daring, silence full of doubt and movement full of impulses – all combined. It’s the energy of creative and destructive strokes of paint-brush, it’s the incarnation of everlasting fight between death and life. It’s the breath of Mother Life herself. Painting and sculpturing the shape with the help of color students comprehend the plasticity and weight of material world, man’s place in this world. Young artists are trying to find the answers on usual questions: how it is "made", what’s the point in this or that painting position, how it can be adequately conveyed. And believe you me, clean child’s soul, hardworking and love to art always find the new, fresh and unexpected answers to these adult questions. The main educational principle is inseparable study of color and shape, one can even say "colorshape" – so indivisible these aspects are. In composition the perception of strained shape is permitted, while in realistic perception of the world natural color and shape of the object is the most significant.

| Firstly, students learn to feel the color and hints. Then they develop their skills and study the changes in colors in space, color reflection including. After that students study the texture of things, color spectrum and of painting positions and landscape sketches. The course is finished by complex tasks, which imply simultaneous revealing of the material qualities of an object and the artist emotional perception. Important tasks here are the portraits of relatives and friends in the interior and complex stylistic positions with plaster heads. The basic materials for painting are water-color, gouache and in last forms – oil. At their own will students may use pastel crayon, acryl tempera, color ink and even color plasticine (it’s used as volumetric dab).
